Congreso de Cronistas Oficiales de España se celebra en Sigüenza

Guadalajara, 22 Oct. - Sigüenza (Guadalajara) is hosting this weekend the celebration of the XLVIII Congress of the Royal Spanish Association of Official Chroniclers (Raeco), in which 70 official chroniclers from all over Spain are participating.

After the sessions on Friday and Saturday, this Sunday, after visiting the cathedral and the Diocesan Museum of Ancient Art, the Congress will be closed in the mentioned Church of Santiago. The Congress program will end with a visit to the town of Atienza, where participants will be able to visit its famous church museums.

In the 2022 edition, held in the city of Cuenca, the congressmen unanimously supported the candidacy 'Sweet and Salty Landscape of Sigüenza to Atienza' for World Heritage status, an institutional declaration that they have reaffirmed in this edition, as informed by the City Council in a statement.

In the closing ceremony of the year 2022, the official chronicler of Sigüenza, Pilar Martínez Taboada, proposed Sigüenza as the next venue, an offer that was also unanimously accepted by all participants.

In her opening speech, the mayor of Sigüenza, María Jesús Merino, thanked "the choice of Sigüenza as the venue for the Congress" and the "explicit support made public last year and reiterated this year, for the candidacy of Sigüenza and its region for World Heritage status."

The City Council of Sigüenza, through the Impulsa Foundation since the event is part of the IX Centenary of the city's program, has collaborated with Raeco in the organization of the event, by providing municipal spaces where the different sections of the program are being developed, and also with the organization of complementary activities for congressmen and guests, such as guided tours to Sigüenza and the area of the candidacy with destinations like Palazuelos, Carabias, Imón, and Atienza, among others.
